Willie Nelson has joined Ray Wylie Hubbard on “Stone Blind Horses,” a song from the latter’s upcoming album Co-Starring Too, which arrives on March 18 on Big Machine.
“I been ridin’ stone blind horses/Never seen a reason to believe/Hey sweet Genevieve say a prayer for me/And the wild young cowboys, old drunks, paramours, and thieves,” the pair sing in the new version.
The original version of the song was on Hubbard’s 2016 solo album The Ruffian’s Misfortune, while the new version gives a preview of the star-studded new project.
“When I finished writing ‘Stone Blind Horses’ the thought came to me, ‘if Wille were to sing this with me it would be like getting a nod of approval from the Universe itself.’ I guess I got it. Thanks, Willie,” recollects Hubbard.
Collaborators on Co-Starring Too include Ringo Starr, Lzzy Hale, John 5, Steve Earle, James McMurtry, Ann Wilson of Heart, Wynonna Judd and more.
