Country music star Trace Adkins recently shared a cover of “A Country Boy Can Survive” from Fox‘s upcoming country music drama “Monarch.”
“A Country Boy Can Survive” is a classic hit song written and recorded by American country music artist Hank Williams Jr. The song was released as a single in January 1982 and reached a peak of No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles charts in March 1982.
“I’ve lost count how many times I’ve listened to Hank Jr.’s ‘A Country Boy Can Survive,’” Adkins said in a press release. “Having the opportunity to record such an iconic song has been both exhilarating and daunting.”
“I wanted to honor the original version while putting my own spin on it,” he added. “I’m excited for this to be the first release from Monarch and for fans to hear all of the music we have coming out.”
Meanwhile, Adkins will star alongside Susan Sarandon and Anna Friel in “Monarch”. Adkins will play Albie Roman, the king of country music who’s known as the “Texas Truthteller” and is married to Dottie Cantrell Roman, portrayed by Sarandon, who is known as the Queen of Country Music. The series was created by Melissa London Hilfers.
“Monarch” will premiere on January 30, following the NFL’s 2021-2022 season NFC championship game. The two-night premiere event will continue on February 1.
