Thomas Rhett recently released a new music video for “Slow Down Summer,” the first song from his upcoming sixth studio album, Where We Started, due out via Valory Music Co.
Rhett, his father Rhett Akins, Sean Douglas, Jesse Frasure and Ashley Gorley co-wrote “Slow Down Summer,” which is about lovelorn high school teens.
The video, directed by Patrick Tracy, features scenes depicting all the four seasons. Rhett is seen spending his time at a piano as the weather around him shifts from an idyllic spring or summer green to autumn’s oranges and reds and finally, winter’s white, with the musician wearing the appropriate dress for each season.
“I wrote this song from the point of view of two people who are in love during senior year of high school,” Rhett said. “I envisioned them headed off to different schools and they’re starting to understand that the moment the weather starts to change, they’ve got a 99-percent chance this relationship is not going to work.”
