A 16-track limited-edition vinyl album featuring tracks donated by groundbreaking female artists, including Taylor Swift, will be released on Record Store Day.
Asiahn, Julien Baker, BANKS, Leyla Blue, Boyish, Bully, Alice Longyu Gao, Laura Jane Grace, Girl in Red, Girl Ultra, K.Flay, Mariah the Scientist, Julia Michaels, Joy Oladokun, and Princess Nokia are the other artists who join Swift, Record Store Day’s first Global Ambassador, on Portraits Of Her.
Sales of the compilation album benefit We Are Moving The Needle, a nonprofit organization supporting female recording professionals, including audio engineers and producers.
Portraits of Her will be available at independent record stores on April 23, 2022, which is the 15th anniversary of the global celebration of the independent record store.
“Record Stores are a nice escape from the rhythm of our everyday lives. They allow us to really think about what music we’re engaging with and listening to,” said Oladokun.
“Women are an incredible asset to the music industry, yet they are underrepresented across the board, but particularly in recording studios,” added Grammy-winning mastering engineer Emily Lazar, who founded We are Moving the Needle.
