Country music star Morgan Wallen made a surprise appearance at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, January 8.
Wallen made his surprise appearance during rising star Ernest‘s Opry debut. The pair performed their newly-released duet, “Flower Shops,” which dropped on New Year’s Eve.
The track is Ernest’s debut single on country radio and was co-written along with Ben Burgess and Mark Holman.
This is the first time Wallen has appeared on the Opry stage since his controversial racial slur video emerged last February. Wallen had debuted at the venue in 2017.
After the controversy, Wallen was removed from many country radio playlists, barred from major awards shows, and also had his contract “indefinitely suspended” by his record label.
Meanwhile, Ernest kicked off the evening with his song, “American Rust.”
