Mickey Guyton and Chris Stapleton lead the Grammy nominees in country music categories, receiving three nominations each.
Guyton’s full-length debut album Remember Her Name was nominated for Best Country Album, while the title track received nominations in the Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song categories.
Guyton is the first Black woman to get a nod for the Best Country Album award since that category was reinstated in 1995.
Stapleton received nominations for Best Country Solo Performance (“You Should Probably Leave”), Best Country Song (“Cold”), and Best Country Album (Starting Over).
Stapleton is fresh from winning three CMA Awards – Single, Song and Album of the Year – two weeks ago.
Country artist Jimmie Allen received only one nomination, but it was big – for Best New Artist. He is the new CMA New Artist of the Year Award winner.
