With Halloween in the rearview, people around the country are now shifting gears into Christmas mode, ushing in the upcoming holiday season with open arms. Megan Moroney is taking full advantage of those who begin listening to Christmas music on November 1 with the release of a surprise EP, Blue Christmas …duh.

The three-track project features two original songs and the iconic holiday favorite “Blue Christmas,” made famous by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” – Elvis Presley.

“All I Want For Christmas is a Cowboy”

The EP opens with the honkytonk-ready “All I Want For Christmas is a Cowboy,” written by Moroney with frequent collaborators Ben Williams, Mackenzie Carpenter, and Micah Carpenter. Laced with fiddle and an irresistible melody, the track finds Moroney divulging her Christmas list. Rather than asking for a new phone, a new car, or a puppy, Moroney is seeking a cowboy who only has eyes for her.

“Give me tall hot in a stetson/ Something I can unwrap like a present/ Put him in some new Luccheses/ Make him call me baby/ I swear I’ve been good all year/ Please Santa please/ All I want for Christmas is a cowboy/ Who only wants me,” she sings on the chorus.

An instant classic, “All I Want For Christmas is a Cowboy” will be a holiday staple for years to come.

“Christmas Morning”

The second track on the EP, “Chrismas Morning,” fits perfectly within Moroney’s emo cowgirl wheelhouse as it details the downfall of a relationship. With a touch of sadness and melancolohy, the lyrics recall the days they were close as she questions, “Where did we go wrong? All the good is gone.”

On the chorus, she seems to realize it’s over as she sings, “Take down the tree/ Unplug the lights/ It’s colder in this bed than it is outside/ Too tired to fight and too sad to cry/ ‘Tis the season, you’ve got reasons/ I know I’ve got mine/ We’ve been falling apart all year and today I can’t ignore it/ Baby when did our love stop feeling like Christmas morning.”

Moroney also penned this track with Ben Williams, Mackenzie Carpenter, and Micah Carpenter.

“Blue Christmas”

Closing out the release is Moroney’s rendition of the timeless classic, Blue Christmas. Though many country artists like Kane Brown, Martina McBride, and Blake Shelton have offered their versions, Moroney’s fresh approach is set to become a fan favorite on holiday playlists this season.

Blue Christmas …duh was produced by her frequent collaborator Kristian Bush, and gives a nod to her sophomore album, Am I Okay? and its signature royal blue color and theming.

The EP arrives just days after Moroney turned heads with the release of her “Am I Okay?” music video, bringing the song’s storyline to life with a bit of humor and stunning visuals.

Next year, Moroney will embark on her AM I OKAY? TOUR. This headlining trek will find the chart-topping star performing for some of her biggest crowds to date, and many of the shows are already sold out.

Soon, she will compete in three categories for the 58th Annual CMA Awards where she is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year (for “I’m Not Pretty”), and New Artist of the Year. Hosted by Luke Bryan, Peyton Manning, and Lainey Wilson, the 58th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 20 (8:00 – 11:00 PM/EST) on ABC and available the next day on Hulu.
