Luke Bryan returned to “American Idol” on Sunday, a week after he was forced to skip the live show due to coronavirus infection.
The country music star and “Idol” judge was supposed to be on the judges’ panel for the first live taping of the reality singing competition’s current season that went on air on April 12.
Former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul replaced Bryan as a guest judge along with fellow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
In an interview with ET, Bryan said it was really tough for him to miss out. “That was the toughest part of quarantine.” However, he added that he was “really honored and very amazed” that Paula stepped in for him.
Bryan joined Perry and Richie for the second episode of the season on Sunday.
After testing positive for COVID-19, Bryan returned to his family’s home in Tennessee and remained in quarantine.
