NBC has announced that Kelly Clarkson will take over Ellen DeGeneres‘ daytime slot on the TV channel once the latter ends her longtime talk show in 2022 after Season 19.
“‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ has earned its dominance in daytime by hitting every benchmark for success since it premiered as the most-watched talk show in seven years,” NBC said in a press release.
The network added, “The hour-long program, hosted by Grammy Award-winning artist and America’s original idol, Kelly Clarkson, features a mix of celebrity guests and everyday people doing extraordinary things in their communities.”
The program airs across 200 stations in the country, and “is positioned to headline daytime in leading time periods by Fall 2022,” according to the television channel.
“We’re working on some big plans for season three and are looking forward to becoming the premier show in daytime for years to come,” Tracie Wilson, the executive vice president of NBC Universal Syndication Studios, said about the new show.
“The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the singer’s titular series, is an hour-long program that features celebrity guests and is now in its second season.
DeGeneres confirmed earlier this month that her long-running daytime talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” would come to an end in 2022 after 19 seasons, saying that she doesn’t find her show to be “a challenge any more.”
