Country superstar Carrie Underwood was joined by Dwight Yoakam during the Country Music Association’s CMA Summer Jam.
Yoakam made a surprise appearance during Underwood’s set onstage at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater on Tuesday night, July 27.
Underwood and Yoakam performed his 1983 hit “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere.” The song is the second single from his fifth studio album, This Time and peaked at No. 2 on the country charts. The pair also performed Yoakam’s 1986 hit song “Guitars, Cadillacs.”
“Never in a million years would I have thought I would get to share the stage with someone this cool!” Underwood captioned a photo of the two performing together on Instagram. “@dwightyoakam you are a LEGEND and, now, a friend as well! Thank you! #CMASummerJam Guitars…Cadillacs…And Cowboy Hats.”
Meanwhile, Underwood’s set also featured her hits “Blown Away,” “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Before He Cheats,” among other songs.
The event also featured Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Luke Bryan, Mickey Guyton, Jimmie Allen and more.
