Ashley McBryde longs for society to embrace the values and traditions of cowboys in her recently released tune, “Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs.”

Written by McBryde with Chris Harris and Patrick Savage and produced by John Osborne, “Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs” opens with the hum of a fiddle, setting the tone for a song that’s as country as country can be both sonically and lyrically.

McBryde’s stunning vocals chime in as she delivers the first verse about the loss of the true American hero and how society has traded those heroes of the West for flashy Hollywood elites.

“The horse I rode in on got put out to pasture/ And someday they’ll put me there too/ They traded our heroes for overpaid actors/ Who can’t even fill up their boots,” she sings.

On the chorus, the Arkansas native conveys a sense of longing for something that is missing in life and shares a desire for deeper meaning and reconnection in an ever-changing world as she delivers, “I’d love to ride into the sunset/ But there’s no wild out west, no prairie to roam/ Or a high enough lonesome to get far enough gone/ There ain’t enough cowboy songs.”

In a recent interview with Cowboys & Indians, McBryde summed it up by stating: “This one was all about where we live and the genre we love and realizing that the horse I rode in on got put out to pasture. Instead of us saying, ‘Work ethic’s out the window, stick-to-it code’s pretty much dead and idealism is gone,’ it was easier to say that by saying there is no wild out west. That’s all gone.”

“Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs” arrived just before McBryde is set to travel to Las Vegas, where she’ll team up with 23-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Champion Roper Jackie Crawford for a Q&A session at Ariat’s Las Vegas brand shop on Thursday, Dec. 12, followed by an acoustic performance.

The following day, McBryde will take the stage with Cody Johnson at MGM Grand Garden Arena before joining him for his Leather Deluxe Tour in 2025, along with festival appearances at Stagecoach, Country Thunder Arizona, Country Thunder Florida, Country Thunder Wisconsin, and more.

McBryde shared her excitement about touring with Johnson in 2025, telling Cowboys & Indians, “Tours are kind of a gamble. But when someone shakes your hand, looks right at you and knows your name, it’s lovely. Our bands and crews are both that way. And I’m really excited about playing for Cody’s fans, because they’re not only consumers of what’s hot, they’re also fans of what’s good.”
