In an interview for the cover story for Women’s Health, Kelsea Ballerini candidly shared her personal experience with therapy throughout her life. The 31-year-old country star disclosed that she has been seeing a therapist since she was only 12, as part of a court mandated order following her parents’ divorce. Therapy continued after she witnessed a shooting at her Knoxville high school, but she felt it was someone else’s idea of what was good for her. “I was young, and I was sad and confused, and I didn’t want to talk to a stranger that someone else was making me talk to,” she revealed. But when she was 24 and had been touring for awhile, Ballerini finally experienced the benefits of therapy. “I’d been on the road for four years, and I was exhausted,” she shared. “I couldn’t answer these fundamental questions I should have been able to answer, so I got back into therapy, by my choice, and fell in love with it.” (Billboard)
