Country star Brad Paisley recently released a brand-new song, “City of Music,” that tells the story of a couple of dreamers attempting to make it big in Nashville, popularly known as the Music City.
The “karaoke queen of Tyler, Texas” and the “second-string quarterback junior transfer learning to play guitar” get acquainted with each other at their day job working at a cowboy boots store, as explained by the lyric, “Someone’s gotta tend the bars, someone’s gotta sell the boots/In the City of Music.”
The pair then find themselves on a date, which culminates in a co-writing session.
The chorus of the song focuses on advice that Paisley has for up-and-coming artists: “Tell the truth, play some chords / Pay your dues and praise the Lord.”
Meanwhile, the singer is gearing up to head out on the road for a Summer concert series, including headlining Nashville’s Fourth of July celebration on July 4, 2020.
